Let me tell you a story.
It’s one I hear far too often.
Robin Hilton sold his business in 2019 and did what most sensible people do next.
He looked for a hands-off, worry-free investment solution.
He worked with financial advisers.
He placed most of his capital with a well-known bank’s wealth management fund.
He was promised respectable returns with low risk.
Sound familiar?
Then COVID hit.
Then Russia invaded Ukraine.
And Robin watched his portfolio nose-dive.
When he asked what could be done?
The answer was simple:
“Nothing.”
The wealth managers shrugged.
The advisers shrugged.
Robin realised something uncomfortable:
He wasn’t being actively managed.
He was just another account in a standardised model, where wealth managers collect their fees and funnel clients into the same limited products they’re allowed to promote.
No agility.
No real risk management.
No proactive decision-making.
Just buy, hold, hope.
Like many frustrated investors, he thought:
“I’ll learn to trade.”
A couple of months later?
Sleepless nights.
Stress.
Emotional decisions.
He quickly realised this wasn’t the path either.
So he searched for companies that could trade on his behalf.
And this is where it gets dangerous.
Because there are plenty of firms that promise the world.
Robin admits:
👉 He got his fingers burnt.
👉 Some looked legitimate.
👉 Some sounded convincing.
But they didn’t deliver.
That’s when he came across TPP.
We were still in our early days.
He reached out and booked a call with me.
And what stood out immediately for Robin wasn’t flashy returns.
It was structure.
✅ His money stayed in his own Interactive Brokers account
✅ We control the trades, but never the funds
✅ He can invest more whenever he likes
✅ He can withdraw whenever he chooses
No lock-ins.
No hidden restrictions.
No loss of control.
That matters.
Especially when you’ve already been burned.
Robin took the leap.
That was years ago.
Today?
He’s had years of returns he’s genuinely happy with.
But more importantly:
He doesn’t worry anymore.
Because we don’t disappear when markets wobble.
We communicate.
We explain.
We stay proactive.
And when regulation started limiting what he could do inside his SSAS pension?
He opened a second account with TPP to invest pension funds.
That’s now performing too.
“I’ve learned that TPP have a much more proactive approach to the markets. They’re not day traders, but they’re also far more active than traditional investment banks. And they’re always only a phone call away, happy to talk through strategies that suit your personal requirements.”
That last line matters.
Because this isn’t a call centre.
This isn’t automated robo-advice.
This is real people. Real strategies. Real conversations.
If you’re fed up with:
– High fees for mediocre performance
– Being told “just ride it out” during market crashes
– Feeling like your portfolio is on autopilot
– Being sold generic products that don’t fit your goals
– Or quietly underperforming simple trackers…
Then it might be time to look at something different.
At TPP:
We don’t chase hype.
We don’t sell products.
We don’t lock you in.
We build diversified portfolios using professional strategies.
We actively manage risk.
We stay engaged.
And we focus relentlessly on one thing:
Beating benchmarks.

P.S. Robin’s journey started exactly where many investors are right now, frustrated, disappointed, and looking for something better. Years later, he’s still with us. That tells you everything.

“TPP might just be about to revolutionise investment for the retail market.”
